Sony A7SII Kit For Bat Survey
Survey guidelines for bat ecologists now recommend the use of infrared video or other appropriate optical tools to improve the effectiveness of bat surveys.
Many ecologists chose camcorders but Adrian Bicker has pioneered the use of converted Sony A7s cameras on bat surveys, benefitting from the camera's legendary low light performance and large sensor to take infrared video to the next level. This was described in Adrian's "Taking Infrared Video to the Max" workshop at the National Bat Conference 2023.
We have co-designed a Sony A7S MkII camera kit, ready for use on bat surveys.
You need to add lenses and the infrared lamps that illuminate the subject. Large aperture Sony prime lenses are ideal although the Sony G 24-50mm f/2.8 Lens a good choice.
The kit includes
Used 720nm infrared-converted Sony A7SII camera with Sony Battery, Body Cap and Charger along with a USB Power Bank that allows several hours of videoing
The equipment supplied is the same as Adrian's and has been refined, tried and tested over many years.
The settings are as recommended by Adrian and the 30min recording limit removed by the installation of the Open Memories App.
These kits are made to order, so please allow approx. 10-14 days for delivery from when the order is placed. The condition of the A7SII bodies will vary as they are used cameras, the main areas of wear are the rear screen and the rubber grip near the SD Card Slot Door, these are both purely cosmetic and do not affect the results in any way, the cameras are all cleaned and serviced during the conversion and are guranteed for 6 months.
They are supplied with serviceable but used Sony batteries, although the USB Power Bank [New] is the main power source for surveys.
